Single Review: "Wading through Whiskey" from Jonivan Jones

Single:  "Wading through Whiskey"
Artist:  Jonivan Jones
Label:  Self-Released

Vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Jonivan Jones delivers his slow simmering, bluesy soul rocker "Wading through Whiskey" with genuine tenderness.  His smooth brooding vocalese caramelizes into the porch-folk swagger of his acoustic guitar.  He produces a bare-naked fervor that is infused into the profound lyrics as he muses introspectively, "I found a door into the past / But oh it might not last / Help me exhale all the faces / I suppose they were never even there... Wading through Whiskey / Hazing through hazy."

Endowed with a vulnerable grit in his timbres reminiscent of U2's vocalist Bono and complimented by guitar vibrations that bristle and rustle displaying a likeness to guitarist Gram Parsons, Jones's vocals slather and graze the languid palpitations of the acoustic guitar.   Glinting a soulful wailing that enshrouds the listener in a warm western-folk braise fringed by soft bluesy flutters, Jones sings what's burning in his soul as he plays with a slow smouldering that surges a passionate nature.
