From mollifying grooves to quick step meters, Hit It from BK Trio led by guitarist Brian Kooken courses through a vast array of harmonic forms across the jazz pallet.  Dripping with imaginative phrasing and organic interaction between Kooken's guitar, Greg Hatza's Hammond B3 organ, and Robert Shahid's drums, the trio's personable style in their communication speaks to listeners in an intimate and friendly manner.

Collaborative activity among the members is continually illustrated like in “Always Looking Up” where Kooken's bubbly chords are interlaced in the pulsating drumbeats of Shahid and the deep toned throbbing of Hatza's Hammond organ.  Their exchanges and interplay are animated, moving freely while having the sensibilities to be aware of where each one is traveling and steering them in crisscrossing patterns.  A beautifully relaxing instrumental is "Brazilian Blues," tiered in emulsifying grooves that soak into the senses.  The breezy strokes of Kooken's guitar strings give the track a sedate vibe.

"Hatza's Groove" is moored by a swinging rhythm that produces  a refined harmony with Kooken's flaring strings.  Switching the tempo to a languid strut, "It's Monday and I've Got The Blues" features the gospel-tinged timbres of Kooken's guitar as Hatza's organ ripples and shimmies with a spirited voice.  Spiked with a touch of soulful funk, "In That Funk Again" is a playful exchange as Kooken's guitar is modulated for a deeper pop/rock register.  His incisions of puctuated notes along "Soul for Shahid" drives the track along a funky jazz trajectory as Shahid and Hatza reciprocate with bluesy jazz phrasing.

The BK Trio demonstrate an instinctive grasp of blues, swing, jazz, funk, and gospel infused harmonies.  The trio make the listener feel like they are his/her friend, engaging the audience in their lively interaction and exchanges.  The trio are quick to reciprocate a comment put out there by another member and then build on it, moving their creations in a stimulating manner.
