Singer-songwriter Jennifer Lee teams up with her guitarist Peter Sprague for her 4th release Glimpse.  A montage of original songs and jazz standards that showcase her prowess as a blues vocalist, the music travels between the suave sonorous of swing, the plush serenity of bossa nova, and the comfy aesthetics of adult pop, bound together by Lee's scintillating vocals.   The recording features jazz musicians from California, including:  Adam Shulman on piano and Rhodes, Gunnar Biggs, Doug Pohorski, and John Wiitala on acoustic bass, Duncan Moore and Vince Lateano on drums, Tommy Aros on percussion, Derek Cannon on trumpet, Tripp Sprague and Anton Schwartz on saxophone, Rich Kuhns on accordion, Justin Grinnell on electric bass, and East Coast flugelhornist Randy Brecker.  "Vivid Technicolor Love" echoes an adult pop romanticism keeled by a comfy groove while "Farewell To Comfort" is framed in a springy samba rhythm.  “I Caught a Glimpse of Your Soul” caramelizes a swing-imbued atmosphere, sparking bluesy vibrations along “If I Only Had a Brain," a fan favorite from the film The Wizard of Oz.  

Lee's vocal resonance is seamless, embodying a pleasing quality that is soothing to the senses, empowering her to serenade the listener effortlessly from her enchanting vocalese on "Serendipity" to intimating bouts of introspection along "Warrior, Drop Your Sword," illuminating Brecker's soulful extemporizing on the flugelhorn.  The tribal beats of "Superhero," inflamed by a percolating Latin beat, invoke a "Nature Boy" allure, a nostalgic tune performed by Nat King Cole.   Each song resonates like a chapter taken from Lee's life, expressing moments of reflection while directing the music in an uplifting arc, transcending life's weightiness.  She crafts her vocals to be an integral part of the songs, sewing them into the rhythm and melodies in flawless synchronicity.
